Espresso Martini

Ingredients
2oz Vodka (Wheatley)
1oz Espresso (From your local shop)
.5oz Coffee Liqueurs (Mr. Black Coffee Liqueurs)
.25oz Simple syrup

*3 Coffee beans + bean grounds

Invented by Dick Bradsell, the master of cocktails, the original recipe was vodka, coffee, and simple syrup on the rocks. This recipe isn’t too far from from the original creation and is probably closer to the modern standard you will come across searching for a classic Espresso Martini.

The most important part for me, is the coffee! Making sure you are using a quality espresso is key. I do not own an espresso machine myself, but can make an OK espresso shot using an Aeropress. However, using a fresh espresso shot from my local coffee shop always has the best results. Shoutout to Crema on Duke St. - Nashville, TN.

Lastly, there are lots of coffee liqueurs to choose from. I personally prefer Mr. Black, an Australian company that nailed the recipe and the packaging. Another notable liqueur is Rhine Hall if you want to try something else.

Recipe
1. Add Vodka, espresso, coffee liqueur, and simplesyrup into shaker.
2. Add handful of ice cubes and shake vigorously to ensure you chill the hot ingredients, as well as create a generous top foam layer.
3. Pour contents into chilled coupe.
4. Add three coffee beans to the center.
5. Sprinkle a small amount of coffee grounds on the edge of half the foam.

Notes:
Kahlua is probably the most used/recognized coffee liqueur, and it works great! Use what you have!
