Summer Shack

Gin

Ingredients
1.5oz London Dry Gin (Beefeater)
.75oz Lillet Blanc
.5oz Sauvignon Blanc
.25oz St. Germain
1 teaspoon simple syrup

*Orange garnish

Whenever the group is drinking white wine (or contact wine), I usually take the opportunity to steal some and make this cocktail. Much like a martini, this is a gin base with wine/vermouth blanc. Then the extra St. Germain adds a nice touch of botanicals to deepen the drinks flavor.

This cocktail invented by Joaquin Simo is a classic to us. I would suggest experimenting with different white or contact wines, but Sauvignon Blanc is called for in the original recipe. Go to your local wine store and ask for a shop favorite!

Recipe
1. Pour all ingredients into a mixing glass.
2. Stir with two large ice squares until cold. Its important to stir until the drink looks like a good consistency in the glass as this drink is not served over ice.
3. Pour chilled contents into chilled coupe.
4. Express orange peel over the drink, wipe the glass rim, and add to drink.

Notes:
As far as the wine used in the drink… we have used many across the boards. Although we are not drawn to rose or some sweeter wines, that does not mean that you shouldn’t try it! It may be what you perfer for your specific recipe.
